Gov. Matawalle's hometown delivers 90 percent votes to Tinubu-Residents.

  As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) opens its collation centre in readiness to receive presidential election results, residents of  Maradun local government, the hometown of Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, have disclosed that they voted 95 percent for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kassim Shetimma, during the poll. As gathered, they were led by the governor to ensure that the APC presidential candidate and others vying for elective seats were adequately voted for during the exercise in the state. It was learnt that Maradun, the governor's hometown recorded a large turnout and votes for the ruling party, making it the leading local government where votes were recorded for the APC, especially the presidential candidates.   Some strange faces believed to be PDP loyalist of the Zamfara State PDP governotorial candidate Dr Dauda Lawal Dare has on Monday kidnapped Hajiya Basira at Filin Jirgi Gusau area of the State. The victim daughter Hajiya Balki confirmed that, her Mother Hajiya Basira was holding a meeting with some women advising them to not compromise with their right during the upcoming Saturday presidential election when about 30 men who dressed in suits whisked her away to unknown destination. As at the time of filling this report, Hajiya Basira family members are accusing the opposition people Democratic party in the State for working towards to eliminate their Mother for some political reasons.

The Zamfara state government notes with dismay the story being peddled around by some unscrupulous elements alleging that the government owes the state workers 6 (six) months salaries and the the government is now paying the workers on table payment, using the humongous amount of old naira notes stashed by the Gov of the state His Excellency Hon (Dr) Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun. The wicked and very malicious propaganda by some unscrupulous mischief makers paid to tarnish the hard earned reputation of the Governor is nothing but envy of the huge successes being recorded by the government of Zamfara state under the able leadership of His Excellency Hon Dr Bello Mohammed Matawllen Maradun in the last three and a half years of his administration and the support the Gov is enjoying from all the nooks and crannies of Zamfara State towards the forthcoming general elections. New Currency Deadline: Atiku Scared at CBN Decision

The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Atiku Abubakar has Condemned the recent extention of the 31 January deadline on new currency swap to Feb 17th to enable people at the grassroots and the less privileged to swap their currency to avoid loss. The Presidential candidate warned the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) against further extension of the February 10, 2023 deadline on the old naira notes swap. The former Vice president, in a statement personally signed, alerted that some forces opposed to the conduct of a free and fair election were ganging up against the CBN. “The CBN should be wary of the elite whose motive for crying out about more postponement of the deadline for the tenure of the old naira notes is sinister and far from being altruistic. I am totally in support of building a cashless economy and reducing the amount of cash in our economy.” Atiku stated.
